Force of Nature

I am waking.
The pounding wet patter
Upon my blind windows
Pushes me from sleep
Into life once more.
You are the driving rain
And I am at your mercy.

I am flying.
Grasped by the howling gale
My old discarded selves
Scatter, are thrown about
Given flight once more.
You are the gusting wind
And I am at your mercy.

I am drowning.
Flailing in the rushing flood
Breathless in the surge
Moved miles in moments
To the sea once more.
You are the roaring river
And I am at your mercy.

I am floating.
Clutched in the buoyant caress
I coast towards the sun
Up and further up
And then up some more.
You are the rising tide
And I am at your mercy.
